تاریخچه  NFPA (انجمن ملی آتشنشانی امریکا) :

انجمن حفاظت از حریق در سال ۱۸۹۶ میلادی به عنوان یک سازمان غیر انتفاعی تأسیس گشت. ماموریت و هدف از تشکیل این انجمن بالا بردن کیفیت زندگی با ارائه راهنماها و استاندارد های ایمنی حریق ، انجام پژوهش ، آموزش و پرورش و نهایتا کاهش خسارات آتش سوزی در سراسر جهان می باشد.

NFPA  مدافع و پیشرو در زمینه پیشگیری از آتش سوزی در سطح جهان بوده و یک منبع معتبر در بالا بردن امنیت عمومی در جوامع به شمار می آید. این انجمن دارای بیش از ۳۰۰ کد و استاندارد بوده که بصورت دائمی در حال توسعه و منتشر نمودن آنها با در نظر گرفتن و به حداقل رساندن اثرات آتش سوزی و دیگر خطرات مرتبط می باشد. بیش از ۶۵۰۰۰ نفر از سراسر جهان عضو آن می باشند.
